2 Days Travel to Hiroshima and Okayama

Hiroshima and Okayama are located in Chugoku region of western Japan. As you know, Hiroshima is widely known as as the first city where is targeted by an attack of atomic bomb. To tell the terrific wars and stories to future generations, the Atomic Bomb Dome are well-preserved and tourist from all over the world visit this area to pray for peace. Also Hiroshima has another tourist destination called “Itsukushima Shrine” in Miyajima. Its red gate (torii) stands over the sea but it is possible to approach to the gate on foot at low tide. I visited Miyajima many times but I never tire of gazing at this site. I highly recommend you to visit here.

In Okayama, there is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan “Korakuen.” Due to its vast site, Korakuen has large pounds, hills and a tea house as well as beautiful lawns and paths for walking. Also luckily to tourists, this typical Japanese style garden is located just next to Okayama Castle so you will be able to enjoy these Japanese designed architecture and gardens. In addition to Okayama city, I went to Kurashiki Bikan Historical District to have another experience of old Japan.

If you have a plan to western Japan, come to Hiroshima and Okayama along with Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka.
